(TL : DR people, read the last sentence of the OP. Just a heads up!) Well as the OP says, have you ever been bullied in school before? (or anywhre for that matter). If so, how did you feel? Was all the negativity just eating at you while you experienced it? Did you make an effort to stop it? For me, I was bullied at ages 11, 12, 14, 15 (14 and 15 weren't as bad as 11 and 12 though). Most of it was just in Middle School but some of it extended to Early High School. For Middle School, the things I vaguely remember from these experinces were that I was generally intimadated by most people in the school. I endured all the typical things you here in the mainstream media when it comes to this issue, you know. I had to endure getting picked on for no reason, intense name-calling, being scared out of my mind constantly while at school, and yes, even getting physically bullied. I still clearly remember that cold, winter day where are got my a** kicked by a bully. Then they were similar incidents of he same thing in the year to follow. Overall, I wouldn't do anything because you have to remember that if you said anything to the teacher during this state of life, you would be labelled as a"snitch" so I didn't want to tarnish my already lackluster reputation in school. Fortunately, the last in year in Middle School turned out tl be better as I was in a class without any bullies. Middle School came to pass and then came High School. Overall, it wasn't nealy as bad as what went down in Middle School but their were still the occasional d*uchebags here and there. The 10th grade was probably the last time I experinced any serious type of bullying. In fact, the only thing I remember was this d*uche at the back of my math class throwing things at everyone including me. From the 11th grade and onwards, the bullying I faced became a memory of the past. The only thing I had to worry about after tben was things like my marks and stuff (not saying that's an easy thing but it was a step up from before lol) 3-7 years later, I look back on everyhing that happened and I wonder how I got through everything. Just because it was over, that doesn't mean it didn't affect me later on in life. All the negativity and despair I felt was still embedded in my head. The teachers in Middle School saw just about everything that went down with me and other people yet they didn't take any serious action. All they would do is just tell the people causing all of it to not do it again which by the way doesn't work at all. All the teachers did was just give lectures about who bullying is wrong and stuff. None of what they said even helped in the first place and they never bothered to take any serious actions against the bullies. I even recall this assistant teacher seeing an incident with her own eyes and not doing anything about it, it was pathetic really. Maybe it was those experinces that has left me hateful and bitter about society in general for being so passive. Ahh, enough about my story. What's your experinces of bullying or at least witnessing bullying? |

To answer your question, yes I was bullied. I was bullied throughout junior high and high school. I remember someone specifically telling me that "no boy would ever love you b/c you are too ugly." It was after I had rejected him because he wanted to play a prank on me. Since I was in elementary school, I was made fun of. What got me through those years was soccer/sports/education/family. My freshman year of high school I was told by one of neighbors, who went to the same school as me, that people only talked to me because they felt sorry for me. It wasn't until Junior High that a couple of girls came up to me and told me "people root for you Ana because you aren't like the other girls on the varsity team." The varsity team was the main girl's team at the high school. Most of the girls on the team were popular except for me. The girls who told me that quote were girls on lower teams who always cheered for me b/c I was nicer and different. The bullying never effected me at the time, but it eventually caught up to me. I eventually thought about it too much after I was unable to play soccer. I eventually got depression and had to fight through all the insecurities I had developed. Today, I still have some insecurities, but I am much stronger than I used to be or at least I'd hope so. Edited by Pookie, Oct 18 2013, 12:10 AM.

That's just extremly low of whoever told you that. Really! Anyways, I do have a lot of insecurities. I avoid having any serious friendships or relationships with anyone except for just being aquintances with some people (except for the people I knew Pre-Middle School). It's something that sticks with you (or for me at least). What really bothered me the most out of all of this was the school's attitude towards this. They like to talk all tough how their going to make the bully pay for his/her actions but they don't end up doing anything serious. Sure, they might send him/her to the office or give them some lecture they'll most likely forgot in the next 5 minutes but it never changed anything. They would do the same thing again and again with nothing stopping them. Edited by Yusuke, Oct 18 2013, 12:24 AM.

Yeah, I have to say that the bullying that I had received when I was younger has stuck with me throughout my entire life. I am 25 years old, and I still have some insecurities that eat me alive inside. I just tough it out and keep going on forward. My insecurities are better than they used to be so in time yours will too. You just have to learn not to keep yourself shut. Also, you need to remember that not everyone are like the bullies that you encountered. As you get older, you will find that people grow out of that phase and start to open themselves up. I tend to think that bullies are the way they are because of insecurities too. The best way to get back at a bully is to succeed and accomplish your goals. You shouldn't let them get the best of you or break your spirits. Spoiler: click to toggle

Yeah I was bullied during secondary school back then I couldn't defend myself because I didn't know any better on how to think and behave. My class was mostly gang oriented teens so the few people who were not interested or had the personality to be part of such things would normally be quite and unsociable with the majority of the class so at times would be picked on. Though am not angry or upset about it anymore. it is like a child annoying you its not there fault they don't any better. There stuck with there perception so behave the way they do. I see it the same way with those high school kids including myself. |

I was tall and I still got bullied. Maybe it was because I didn't do anything to stop the problem. |

I was never bullied but I was the new kid at one point in time. A couple of bigger dudes tried to push me around on one of my first days at the new Middle School that I was at. I defended myself by punching him in his nose and making it where he couldn't do anything to me. His partner in crime looked at me and just decided to leave me alone. I've never had any other problems besides that. I've been called names and still getting called names to this very day, but I've always been mentally tough enough to handle them. I can always handle a little smack talk too because I've always been apart of sports teams. I don't bully anyone and I would defend anyone who is getting bullied if they aren't capable of doing it themselves. I actually don't tolerate that kinda stuff because it's wrong and it has no meaning to it but bringing negativity amongst people that they probably don't need added to them because of what they may be going through back at home already. I wish I was as corageous as you are ProGo! I pretty much let everything happen to me in Middle School. It was a bad decision but I was afraid of everything that would happen to me if I stood up for myself. If it were to happen now......i'd like to think I would take some action. Even if it means getting my rear end handed to me, it's better than living my life in a constant state of fear. That's what I want to think anyways. I can't change the past though, no matter how badily I want it to change. |

I was bullied a tad in my younger years but I generally grew out of it (literally). Like Aang I was graced with the burden of girth, which tends to put people off I guess. Also in my highschool, people gave you a lot of respect for helping them with stuff, so that might've accounted for something. I knew a guy that was so smart, helpful, and nice that to pick in him was basically signing a death warrant. |

I bullied the hell out of a kid(s) in my first couple years, terrible stuff, but then I moved and stopped bullying once I had a group of friends that would die for me. Then I moved again and got bullied to hell in middle school; now I blame it on karma for what I did as a young lad, taking punishment to make up for what I did.
